I'm a graduate of the University Polytechnic of Marche (Italy) in marine biology. I have a Master degree in nature conservation and management at the University of Camerino (Italy). Since 2000, I have been a high school science teacher. My school is the Liceo Classico "F. Stabili-E. Trebbiani" in wonderful Ascoli Piceno (Italy). I'm also a geology Ph.D. student at the University of Camerino with a focus on teaching Earth sciences. In 2015, I had the great opportunity to be selected, as a teacher, to participate in the XXX Italian Antarctica Expedition with the aim of disseminating Italian Antarctic research in Italian schools.
In 2016 I had another great chance: I took part in School of Rock 2016 in Cape Town (South Africa). It has been the best training course ever for me.

One of the first things that I realized living on the JOIDES Resolution is that the people speak using a lot of acronyms.
Some of the most mysterious for me were the ones related to the drilling system.

In this post let me introduce the science party of the Expedition 367. Of course you can find all the scientists at this link<, but I would rather prefer to introduce them with these pictures we took when we left Hong Kong on board the JOIDES Resolution.

Life on the JR/Vita a bordo- No one will miss the birthday cake/nessuno resti senza torta di compleanno! (english/Italian)

What will happen if your birthday is when you are in the middle of the ocean, (technically on the South China Sea), during an IODP Expedition faraway from home?! No worries. The JOIDES Resolution crew will prepare for you an amazing birthday cake and you will miss home a little bit less.

Since the 8th of February the JOIDES Resolution is docked in the Hong Kong harbor.
But even if we are not sailing, there are still many things to do. We have many presentations every day about the science we are going to do and about the life on the JR.
