Often, there are three delicious choices for meals revolving through fish, pork, lamb, chicken, and beef.  Two factors contribute to the problem that lies ahead, that being over-indulgence at meal times.

I had really been looking forward to Easter Sunday on this wide expanse of Pacific.  I had often heard about holidays on The JR and this was my opportunity for first-hand experience.

A Thanksgiving Barbecue!

 Apparently it’s not a well-known fact that Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving in October. When we had a fabulous turkey dinner with all the trimmings this last week, I realized that the camp boss probably had no idea either, since he probably wouldn’t make two of those in one week! So I sheepishly approached him and asked if he knew about the oddly-placed Canadian holiday; he confirmed that he was “verra soarry,” he hadn’t planned on it. So instead of turkey and stuffing, gravy, sweet potatoes and cranberry sauce, we had our first BBQ on the bow!

Breakfast?! Lunch?!... maybe Brunch!!!

In a previous entry< you realized that we have an excellent team of cooks preparing all the meals for us. Breakfast is served between 5 and 7 AM, lunch between 11 and 1 PM, and dinner between 5 and 7 PM.

Nearly everybody going on board of the JOIDES Resolution for the first time may have asked the question: "What shall we eat in this 8 weeks?" to himself or to others, when preparing to sail. Because of the ambitious expedition goals, the ship is designed to remain 8 weeks on sea, without visiting any port.
