Glittering gabbro

This is very thin section of gabbro (a rock from the lower ocean crust) taken from our first core which was recieved on Christmas Day. It has been sliced this thinly so that it can be looked at under a microscope, this techique allows the geologists to see the minerals and crystals in greater detail.
