Hi Mrs. Kane! I really like

Hi Mrs. Kane!

I really like these comic books! I didn't know specific details about the mission of the JR and I found these very helpful. I learned that the "acorks" are the tools that record data such as temperature and pressure from the sea floor and even below it. The diagram of the acork looked a little confusing because it has so many parts but at the same time it is really interesting. The technologies and gadgets we have now a days never cease to amaze me!

Hi Mrs. Kane! I had no idea

Hi Mrs. Kane!
I had no idea that this exploration was so popular that there is a comic book series about it! That is pretty cool. You will have to get some of them for keepsake! hahah. What other forms of information are out there about the JR? Are there a lot of books written on it, or possible any documentaries?

Have a great day!

We are making a new comic

We are making a new comic book about our expedition. It will be fun! Maybe I'll be in it too. There is so much out there on the JR. Check out youtube on the JOIDES resolution! wonderful videos. There is even more on the web! I will be showing some of them in class. Thanks for writing. Mrs. Kane

Hi Mrs. Kane! I looked over

Hi Mrs. Kane! I looked over to see how many people there are working with you and it seemed to be around 30 or so. That's a good amount to have on board especially with the work you are doing. If there was a comic book made I sure would read it! I think it would be exciting to read and learn more about the discoveries made. I hope the trip is going amazing and can't wait to hear back from you. Amanda Od.

Hi Amanda, Good to hear from

Hi Amanda, Good to hear from you! It is a great voyage! The comic book story line has been developed so it is in progress! How would you like to have a live video conference with me from ship when you start school? ship to shore thing! Mrs. Kane

Hi Mrs. Kane!

Hi Mrs. Kane!
Hope you are having a fun experience on board and are learning more and more each day! I was wondering if there was an specific thing you weren't allowed to bring on the ship with you because of safety hazards or other reasons? Also, that comic book was cuteee! Can't wait to hear about the stories when you get back!

Most things that I would want

Most things that I would want to bring on board were allowed. There is no alcohol or drugs for obvious reasons. What would you like the next comic book to be about?

Physics

Hey Mrs. Kane! After the first comment I left, I decided to explore the site and learn more about JR. I learned so much and I can't believe how many gallons of fuel it can hold! This seems like a great opportunity and I can't wait to see you when you get back so you can tell us about your adventure. - Taylor St

I'm glad you enjoyed surfing the JR website. I agree, there is so much fascinating information there! It will be fun to share about this adventure when I get back!

Hi Mrs. Kane! This sounds

Hi Mrs. Kane! This sounds like an amazing opportunity. I am beyond excited for honors physics in the fall and think the video chats from the boat will be so cool. I was wondering how many others are going on this trip with you and are you researching about oil spills? Have a great time and learn a lot!

HI Nicole,
There are 6 on the team but just over 100 people all together. This expedition will be focusing on understanding the properties of the floor beneath the ocean and how fluid flows through it. It will be very exciting! Thanks for your comment. Keep checking back,

Hi Mrs. Kane! I received your

Hi Mrs. Kane!
I received your letter in the mail and I am really looking forward to hearing all about your adventure in Physics class this fall. This sounds like such a great opportunity and I'm sure you are very excited. I just went on the JOIDES Resolution home web page and I already have learned so much about the ship, such as how big it is and how many people it can hold. I also learned what the JOIDES Resolution is named after and what is stands for. How were you chosen to be a part of this expedition and how many people were picked to be a part of it?
-Sarah Du

I'm glad you are learning

I'm glad you are learning about the JR. It is a wonderful ship. The JR has programs for teachers to participate in expeditions. Teacher’s complete an application form and sometimes an interview. There are 6 on our team, two teachers from France and 4 from USA. I will be posting a new blog soon. Thanks for your comment, Mrs. Kane

SUA Physics

Mrs. Kane, I just checked out the JR website and it looks like you have an exciting time ahead of you. It's amazing that the ship holds 997,157 U.S. gallons. I look forward to checking in on your trip and hearing about all of the valuable information you will obtain starting July 6th. How did you get chosen to be a part of this expedition? Safe travels and don't forget a life jacket!

Abbey Ru

Hi Abby, The JR has a huge

Hi Abby, The JR has a huge "gas tank", yes? I'm not sure how I was chosen but there was an application process. There are many wonderful adventures you too can, and will, be part of if you really want to. I will try to be safe and not lean over the side toooo far. Perhaps I will show you a picture of our fire drill... I will post a new blog soon. Stay tuned! Mrs. Kane

Hi Mrs. Kane! I'm so excited

Hi Mrs. Kane! I'm so excited to take Honors Physics and have you as my teacher! How is the exploration going so far? It seems like such an exciting thing to do over the summer. Even though you won't be there once school starts I know that once you come back there will be many stories to tell! I have a quick question though, how many people are on board the ship with you working?
Amanda Od

Hi Amanda, Good to hear from

Hi Amanda,
Good to hear from you. Thanks for the comment. I will have lots of stories. We may even make our journey into a comic book story. Would you read it? You have some good questions. I won't leave land for a few more days so I'm still packing and planning. I want you to see if you can find the answer to your last question by studying the JR website and let me know what you find out ok? Mrs. Kane

Hi Mrs. Kane! I just read

Hi Mrs. Kane!
I just read your letter and thought I would try to be one of the first ten girls to blog! My first question for you is how did you get involved in this project?

Claire Ne
