From Adam to Earth Scientists in Training V

Dear Earth Scientists in Training,

What have we seen out here in the middle of the pacific ocean?  Being out on the ocean is really pretty. We have been out on the ocean for almost two months now.The last land we saw was only a couple of hours after leaving Honolulu.

The only man made things we’ve seen since then are two ships that passed near enough for us to see. In additions to water, waves, wind, the sun and moon, we have seen some very rare and beautiful marine life.

ALTHOUGH IT’S ALMOST ALWAYS CLOUDY WHERE WE HAVE BEEN AND WE CAN’T SEE THE SUN ACTUALLY SETTING, WE GO OUTSIDE AND WATCH THE SUNSET ALMOST EVERY EVENING. HERE IS ONE WITH SOME NICE COLORS.

HERE I AM WATCHING THE SUNSET NEXT TO THE ONE OF THE LIFE BOATS. IT’S RIGHT AFTER DINNER, SO I’M HAVING DESSERT – WE HAVE A SOFT ICE CREAM MACHINE AND I PUT CHOCOLATE SYRUP IN THE HOLES IN THE CUP BEFORE I PUT THE ICE CREAM IN.

HERE I AM WITH SOME OF MY SCIENTIST FRIENDS WATCHING ANOTHER SUNSET. THIS IS ON TOP OF THE BRIDGE. THE BIG BALL IS THE SATELITE ANTENA THAT ALLOWS US TO HAVE AN INTERNET, EMAIL AND TELEPHONE CONNECTION WITH LAND. THIS REPORT TO YOU WAS SENT USING IT!  SITTING NEXT TO ME ARE CARL AND JENNS (FROM GERMANY). STANDING BEHIND US ARE HIDETO AND YUHJI (FROM JAPAN). KIRSTY (SITTING ON THE DECK) AND PAUL (STANDING BLUE SHIRT ARE FROM ENGLAND. HOWIE IS ON THE RIGHT, HE JUST MOVED TO SOUTH CAROLINA. DO I LOOK TIRED?

IN ADDITION TO THE SUNSETS, WE’VE HAD A LOT OF SUN AND RAIN- THESE COMBINE TO MAKE SOME REALLY NICE RAINBOS. HERE IS A COMPLETE RAINBOW FROM A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO. PRETTY COOL, EH?

CHECK OUT THIS DOUBLE RAINBOW!

That's it for today, but tomorrow I'll be posting some very special pictures of the animals we've seen.
