A new lexicon and sealegs

I'm on a boat! It isn't moving yet, but I am on it. I am already adding new terms to my lexicon: berth (cabin or room), mess (dining area), bridge (not a structure to get over a river), deck (lowermost portion of the outside area of the ship). It is strange how many times these terms have come up in books I have read but never really had to adopt into my spoken language until now. Cookie break has universal meaning and that starts soon. They'll let us off the ship tonight to see more sights of San Diego before we embark tomorrow morning at 7am. I'm on a boat.

On a boat?

Do you have your nautically themed pashmina afghan on? I am the Teacher at Sea for Expedition 323 and I'll be meeting you guys in Victoria in a couple of weeks. I'll be getting on the ship as you leave, and then it's two months at sea for me.

I am interested in what each of the School of Rock'ers want out of this trip, and then I want to see how close your results match your desires at the end of the trip.

And you need to follow my trip on Twitter (TheJR), Facebook (JOIDES Resolution) as well as my blogs here starting in July.
