We are finally aboard The JR!
Everything is running as planned and we are working hard to get the pace on… During these two days we have been learning how to think as real scientists. We analyzed different data sets of four ODP cores. After plotting several graphs, some brainstorming sessions, observing the cores … and eventually, with our instructor's help, we were able to identify a major paleoceanographic event that marks the Eocene-Oligocene boundary.

On this picture one can actually see the Eocene siliceous ooze (dark brown) transition to the Oligocene calcareous ooze (light brown).

the rockers
Hi there again, in english.
I really am amazed with your strength to endure such an adventure. Now tell are you all science teachers? Or are there any other areas teachers.
I know you have been writing a lot in Portuguese and I've also read those messages too. Nevertheless I still hope you'll reply one of these of my own.
How much long are you going to stay there?
Anyway , I´m watching you! HI! Hi! Hi!
See you in a while (crocodile!) Oh no it?s "Sea Wolf", isn't that so?
Lúcia (once more, as I've promised)
Do you also rock?
Hi Lucy!
Good to hear from you. Here I am with all the rest of the Rockers at the Juan de Fuca Ridge. We are mainly Earth Science (5th grade-12th grade), but there are also educators that work at museums that have their own educational programs as well.
The cementing operations have been successfully completed and we are just waiting for a berth at the Victoria port.
We will be back to the main land on Sunday.
Stay tuned.
See you soon.
