Our School of Rock program is a professional development opportunity for formal and informal educators on board the JOIDES Resolution. While living on board the ship, teachers will work with scientists and technicians to learn about many aspects of earth science, geology, paleo-oceanography and more done aboard this amazing ship, what we learn from scientific ocean drilling, how to do the kinds of scientific analyses and lab exercises program scientists do, and have time to process this information to begin creating or modifying resources for their students.

When? School of Rock workshops occur once a year during a transit or tie-up period for the vessel. We are not currently accepting applications.

How? Applications will be through our electronic application portal system and will include answers to a series of short essay questions, a c.v./resume, and one letter of recommendation.

How much does it cost? Participants will be selected through a competitive application process. If accepted, all travel expenses to and from the ship will be covered by the program.
