The International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP), the Consortium for Ocean Leadership (OL), and Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) are offering this unique immersive course focused on how seafloor sediments and rocks are collected and analyzed to understand important Earth history questions. This adventure will take you out in the field to investigate land-based sediments, then into the lab to work with real deep sea cores that inform about sedimentation, global change, and geological hazards. Participants will use a range of techniques, practice spatial learning, and connect basic scientific concepts to societal interests.
