Waiting to Sail

This is our third day onboard the JR. We are still at port, expecting to get underway sometime today. I’ve spent the last few days trying to find my way around the ship, and usually getting lost. We had lots of training sessions yesterday to be sure we know how to keep ourselves safe and how to not get in the way of the crew as they go about their daily routines. I have met some of the most fantastic educators and scientists and can’t wait to get started working on projects with them.  I was happy to have a few days to explore Victoria BC, as this is my first visit to this part of Canada. It is a beautiful city full of historic buildings and blooming flowers. The water front picture I took will make a great personal postcard. Now I’m looking forward to getting out to see and into some serious science.
