Yesterday afternoon, while the Siem crew kept tripping pipe down to the seafloor and the people onboard was getting ready to contemplate the sunset, some had the opportunity to watch a couple of curious whales spraying and swimming near the ship. Can you help us identifying the species?

Ontem, ao final da tarde, enquanto se ultimavam os preparativos para iniciar as operações de perfuração e continuavam a ser enviadas secções de tubo para o fundo do mar, algumas das pessoas a bordo que se preparavam para observar o pôr do Sol conseguiram ver os esguichos de algumas baleias curiosas que nadavam perto do navio. Podes ajudar-nos a identificar a espécie?

We were lucky enough to watch them again on the following day. You can see a sequence of images of the dive  of one the whales on the picture below. Although one can not see it on the photos the chest of the animal was white. Is there any cetacean expert out there?

Tivemos a sorte de voltar a ver algumas baleias no dia seguinte. A foto abaixo mostra uma sequência de imagens do mergulho de uma delas. Apesar de não ser visível nas imagens o peito do animal era branco. Anda algum especialista em cetáceos por aí?
