On the ship, all birthdays are always celebrated  with delicious cake (we have a frustrated pastry chef amidst our cooking staff, I’m sure of it!)  Today was the birthday of paleontologist Thiago Pereira dos Santos, from Brazil.  He got a little container of “Mars Mud” (a non-Newtonian fluid, a lot like cornstarch and water, but way cooler), and a birthday hat with one of MY SEM’d photos!  The G. fistulosus, that we were calling the rasta one, here looks like a high fiving hand – which I did indeed high five.  Who could resist?
