Activity Summary: Students will be able to use a model and analyze data to understand how water can naturally become salty.

This lesson focuses on how saltwater forms. Students will observe a model to describe how salt enters water sources and will conduct an activity that explores evaporation and demonstrates how salt deposits are formed. This lesson can be used to introduce how water moves through the environment, how the environment can affect the quality of water, as well as the types of water sources and bodies of water around the world. There are versions of this lesson for elementary, middle, and high school!
