Breakfast of Champions
A vigorous day of action in the core lab requires proper nutrition and what better place to find it than in the galley of the ship. Here you see a collection of the midnight to noon shift enjoying their breakfast of sirloin steak mixed with a variety of other things depending on how guilty/healthy they are feeling (from left to right, Kenta Suzuki (sedimentology), Giancarlo Scardia (paleomagnetic), Sophia Bratenkov ( organic geochemistry) and Sergio Ando (sedimentology)). The ratio of fruit salad to french fries tends to decrease as the cruise progresses in my experience, not least helped by the fact that fruit does not last forever, except apparently apples.
