As you know it is possible to see the International Space Station (ISS) orbiting the Earth with the naked eye. A few weeks ago, when we were drilling at the Site U1386 (GC-01A), some of the Expedition 339 participants were able to watch the ISS crossing the night sky. Although we could not see more than a tiny moving dot on the sky, it was a very exciting experience for me because I have never seen it before.

Como sabem é possível ver a Estação Espacial Internacional (ISS) a orbitar a Terra a olho nu. Há algumas semanas atrás, enquanto as operações de perfuração decorriam no Site U1386 (GC-01A), alguns dos participantes da Expedição 339 puderam avistar a ISS a cruzar o céu nocturno. Ainda que não se visse mais do que um pequeno ponto a deslocar-se no céu, foi uma experiência muito empolgante para mim porque eu nunca tinha visto a ISS ao vivo antes.

It turns out that they were also watching us… and took this beautiful picture of the Iberian Peninsula. Can you find us on the photo? If you look carefully you will see The JR located just a few miles southeast of Faro (Algarve, Portugal).
