Volcano in Sight!

This photo shows the largest volcano on the island of Montserrat silhouetted above large paths of light colored landscape alternated with patches of green vegetation. The light colors are the massive landslides and debris fields created when the extruded magma flowed into the Caribbean Sea. The flow of the magma resembles a road winding around the volcano down to the water’s edge. This feature of the island’s topography is called the Tar River valley.
