A napkin was the key to the invention of the CORK

Twenty four years ago, the idea of a CORK was sparked and first recorded on a dinner napkin as a sketch..yes, a dinner napkin. We are fortunate to be onboard with two of the scientists who were responsible for concocting the idea back in 1989-Earl Davis and Kier Becker. A third member of the trio is Bob Carson. This spark, was the result of an observation they had years before…after drilling a hole in the seafloor, sometimes water would flow up and out of the hole.  So the thought was that perhaps there was fluid flowing underneath the ocean floor in significant amounts. And if this is the case, how could we study it and would what we learn???Kier Becker giving history of CORK talk
