Erika says it sounds like birds chirping.

Rick says it’s like a cricket.

I think it’s more like a dolphin.

AI – GPT(Generative Pre-trained Transformer

What’s an AI’s favorite type of music? Algo-rhythm and blues! (I may or may not have used AI to come up with this.)

Valerie gave us some excellent instruction to open our minds to using AI in education.  I have been reluctant so far in doing so mostly because I just haven’t known where to begin and what to use it for. Thanks Valerie for helping me get started.

I tried to refine the jokes using AI to relate to education.  I kinda like this one.  My AI tutor is great, but it keeps trying to grade my essays in binary. My last paper just got a “010101.” 🤣

Learning about the ship operations for seismic research

Gilles taught us about the computer screens in the control room and what they all mean, while Aaron taught us about the birds, streamers, and guns used in seismic operations.  It was pretty cool seeing all that goes into the different jobs.  In all this learning I found out what those “dolphin” sounds were about . We sailed into international waters last night about 11:30 allowing for less restrictions on what data the ship can collect, and that sound (birds, crickets, or dolphins🙂) we hear, is part of the ships sonar system used to map the ocean floor.  I was so hoping we had a dolphin friend tagging along with us.  Maybe the sound will attract some dolphins to come check us out.

We found Plankton!

So much fun as we learn from Leah and Kaatje about the roles phytoplankton and zooplankton play in the ocean and where to find them.  We were able to see them through the microscopes too.  What a treat!🦐  These plankton were collected from the ocean water pumping through a hose into a net at the bottom of the sink.  That was a good idea by the way.

 

Relaxing at the end of another awesome day.

A nice way to relax as we indulge in some games of Yahtzee and craft time.  The anticipation is building as we are about 24 hours out from operations sending those OBS’s and the CTD to the bottom of the sea!
