More Cores!

Hey, it’s cold in here. We are bringing up cores from site U1370 today and their first stop is in the cold room. This is where the oxygen in the sediments will be measured. We actually have several cold rooms on board. This one is small and is located next to the chemistry lab. After being in this room for a few hours, portions of the core will be taken into the chemistry lab. In the chem lab, the sediments will be squeezed under enormous pressure to force the water out. The water will then be analyzed for many chemicals.

The weather today is still cool and cloudy. We will continue at this location for several more days.
