Ring the bell…
We are finally aboard The JR!
Everything is running as planned and we are working hard to get the pace on… During these two days we have been learning how to think as real scientists. We analyzed different data sets of four ODP cores. After plotting several graphs, some brainstorming sessions, observing the cores … and eventually, with our instructor’s help, we were able to identify a major paleoceanographic event that marks the Eocene-Oligocene boundary.
On this picture one can actually see the Eocene siliceous ooze (dark brown) transition to the Oligocene calcareous ooze (light brown).
You can follow the ‘Rockers’ also in Portuguese here.
