The Ship – The JOIDES Resolution
How do you like my ship?! Today, I would like to take you on a photo tour of the ship. We have spent seven weeks out at sea and I have told you about the people and the science but I haven’t told you about the ship itself. The JOIDES Resolution was built in 1978 as an oil ship. In 1985, it was converted to an oceanography ship to explore the seafloor of the world’s oceans. The ship is 470 long, 70 wide, and 190 feet to the top of the derrick. Our photo tour will take you from the front of the JOIDES Resolution to the back of it. I hope that you like my steering!
