Hump day...

... is the time when people start separating into two groups, the "half-empty" and the "half-full" ones.

Hi again, after some really busy days, the sedimentologists now have a little time to calm down. Although new cores are coming on deck every half an hour on our new drill site on Bowers Ridge, we still have to wait a bit until the cores are ready to be split.

So here we are now, in the middle of the Pacific. Well, actually a bit northeast of the middle, but the feeling is all the same. It is a very special thing to be on a tiny ship completely surrounded by nothing but endless water. If the weather is pleasant like now, it really feels great!
