Thank you for your interest in the International Ocean Discovery Program! On this page, you will find links to FREE resources that you can use in your classroom.

FOR EDUCATORS: This is our library of over 100 free educational materials available online. Resources are sorted by type (teaching kits with replica cores, lesson plans, children’s books, and more), and can be searched by topic or age group.

REVISED LESSONS:  Access our revised lessons available for trial. These new versions are standards-aligned, data- and phenomenon-based, and sure to engage your students in authentic science content and methods.

FEEDBACK FORM: Let us know what you think of our revised lessons so that we can improve these as well as the rest of our lessons!

SCHEDULE A SHIP-TO-SHORE CONNECTION: Immerse your students in Scientific Ocean Drilling with a free, personalized video connection straight to the JOIDES Resolution. In this live meeting, you will take a tour of the ship to learn about science and drilling operations, then speak with scientists at sea to get your questions answered.

DIGITAL CONTENT ARCHIVE: Browse thousands of photos that show scientists at work aboard the JOIDES Resolution, as well as drilling operations and the surprising delights of life at sea. Choose “Click here for guest access” to enter.

IODP CORE DATA: Learn how to access data from past IODP expeditions.

SCHOOL OF ROCK: School of Rock is a workshop that will immerse educators in the science and operations of ocean drilling expeditions. Check back regularly to see when the next workshop will be offered.

Don’t forget to follow us on social media! We update our Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter accounts daily to share our exciting science and adventures at sea.
