Dr Lloyd White,  a lecturer in the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Wollongong, Australia, is one of the scientists sailing onboard the JR’s Expedition 369. Lloyd has written about the importance of plate tectonics research and how we are contributing to it on this expedition for the Geological Society of London:
