What kinds of things can
What kinds of things can scientists learn from logging tools?
Anne Marie Frandsen, ISU Early Learning Center, Pocatello
Logging Tools
Good question, Anne Marie! It depends on the type of tool. Some tools take the rock's temperature, others test for magnetic properties, and others send sound waves through rocks to give scientists an idea of the kind of rock that surrounds the hole. When you can't see the rock because it is beneath the seafloor, tests like this can give scientists an idea of what it would "look" like if they could see it.
