From Adam to Earth Scientists in Training III
Dear Earth Scientists in Training,
In my last letter, we talked about what IODP is and the ships we use to study the Earth. Today I have something very special about the people I sail and work with.
WHO PARTICPATES IN IODP? Here are the flags of all the countries that pay to particpate in IODP. I really, really like all the flags, so I had to make this picture! The scientists who sail on the expeditions like the one I'm on right now all come from these countries. So, I get to meet, work closely with, and become friends with people from all over the world. I find this very interesting!! At one time or another, I've sailed with someone from each of these countries. The newest member to IODP is India and I've just invited the first scientists from there to participate in future expeditions.
Thinking of you,
Adam (from 5°18.736’N, 126°16.997’W (that’s degrees and minutes))
